I have a Peavey vt clic 212, doesn't sound good, replace speakers or buy new amp?

I have a peavey vt series clic 212 amp that doesn't sound like I want it. If I replaced the speakers would it improve the sound or should I just invest in a new amp? If so, what speakers should I buy?
