Fuel Efficiency Problem?

i have a 1993 hi-ace 3.0L diesel engine with automatic transmission. im driving it with overdrive turned on and just doing under 55mph as my top speed to save fuel. but still my van is doing 20 miles per gallon. what part of the engine should i check to get a higher miles per gallon? thanks
