Protestants, how can you trust the bible is the word of god...?

... when the catholics put together the very thing you call the bible over 1500 years ago? most of you ert they are not even christians, but rather idol worshippers. so does this mean you have to throw away your bible and make up a new savior, god, and holy spirit to worship? what will the replacement for the bible be called?
